I've been making some announcements at the beginning of our worship times that people have affirmed and I thought I would publish them... just so you know ;) Actually they share my heart for this time we are in and the simple yet strong convictions I have about worship. The general madness of our moment is irritating to most and down right scary for others-I get that and hope we can face whatever is next together with God's help.
Here's my announcements:
You need to know
it’s not only ok to stay home if you are not feeling well-it’s the most wise
and caring thing you can do-if you have responsibilities here please let us
know and try to get them covered. This may mean that some Sunday’s there maybe
be gaps that affect our time together like no song leader, SS teacher or even
preacher some morning-this is all part of the mess we must deal with-your
patience and flexibility is needed and appreciated.
On that note the question may be asked why are we still doing this? I believe worship is our greatest weapon in the spiritual war we are in. I believe our worship battles back at the constant attacks of depression, anxiety, bitterness and rage we face. I believe it is our primary defense against the virus and all the toxic side effects this devilish disease brings.
When we praise, pray and preach together
the Holy Spirit fills us with power we need to make it thru. This is why we
will wisely worship together here as long as we can. So where ever you are,
here, in the wing or out on YouTube-I want to say thank you for being here, your
presence is precious-welcome to our worship!
Then at the end of our worship I've said the following with a fantastic benediction from 1 Thessalonians...
BENEDICTION: I
have been to places that care for people and they are filling up-please
continue to be wise and caring in your interaction with others-GET A FLU
SHOT, WEAR A MASK, WASH YOUR HANDS AND MAINTAIN A SAFE DISTANCE-I know this is
a sacrifice but it is what we need to KEEP DOING for now-any questions or
concerns let me know…
1 Thess 3:11
May God our Father and our Lord Jesus bring us together very soon. 12And may
the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow,
just as our love for you overflows. 13May he, as a result, make your hearts
strong, blameless, and holy as you stand before God our Father when our Lord
Jesus comes again with all his holy people. Amen.
