How You Should Vote 2024

Several years ago Ron Sider (fairly famous Mennonite thinker) came to Central Christian school. Now honestly folks, I wasn’t 100% sure of who he was, so I didn’t widely promote him. This was a HUGE MISTAKE. I found him to be a very balanced, Biblical and blessed man who could thoughtfully wade into the political process and not get washed away into controversy. There was a small but diverse group of SMC’ers that did attend and we all felt blessed for being there. The tag line is true. But great marriages DO happen when God is at the center. This retreat does just that. If you are engaged, married 6 months or 60 years you will be deeply encouraged to love God and each other more all weekend and long after that. Since 2008 many of our couples have gone to this and been blessed by what happens there. It is an investment of your time and money. It starts Nov. 1st and runs thru the 3rd. The cost is $350 per couple but till Sept. 16 it's 1/2 price, so $175! Since it's in Akron it's drivable but if you want to stay in the hotel or one close by go for it. Humbled by your faith…

There are moments that I feel barely worthy to be your pastor. Moments that I sit with people who are in such profound pain or engulfed in dysfunction. They explain in detail the various agonies both physical and mental they are in to me. I listen to them and it moves beyond my imagination. I’m stupefied by their situation. I wonder how are they making it. How can they go month to month, week to week, day to day. Sometimes even hour by hour with the diagnosis or the unknown causes of tragic symptoms that debilitate and frustrate to a level I’ve never known. We often come to a point in the conversation where I have reflectively listened and offered sympathy upon sympathy or even empathy to the point that I can offer no more. And I wonder where the conversation will go because I have nothing else to give… and then this beautiful thing happens.
