SMC Delivery
With the increasing seriousness of COVID-19, SMC would like
to offer a tangible way to help those of us who are older or have compromised
immune systems and have been asked to stay indoors. We realize that our
circumstances could change, but we would like to launch a delivery ministry,
called SMC Delivers.
Matthew 25:34-40 talks about caring for a variety of people
who are in need and that when we take of those, it is like we are doing that
for Jesus too. We are to take care of each other.
We would ask for two sets of people to call or email the
church office:
- Those
people who need something that are confined to their home. If you are in
need of groceries, prescriptions, toilet paper, etc. Please contact the
church office and let Kathy know your name, phone number and what you
need.
- It
would be expected that you reimburse the people who are shopping for you
at some point. They will be leaving a receipt with the items you asked
for.
- If
you are in a financial hardship, please contact Todd and talk to him
about using the compassion fund for assistance.
- Those
people who are willing to go to the grocery store, drug store or shop
online for the people who call in with needs and deliver them to their
home. Please call the church office and let Kathy know you are willing to
be a deliverer and your availability.
- We
would ask that deliverers pay for the items up front and give the receipt
to the people you are shopping for so they can reimburse you.
Here are some guidelines we would like for you to follow:
- Don’t
be ashamed to ask for help. This is a very serious time and we want to
help in the best way we can. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus for
you.
- Please
restrict contact with those people you are shopping for. Leave items
purchased at their front door and call them to let them know their items
have arrived.
- This
ministry will be contingent on the mandates given by our government. If at
any point they change to make this ministry impossible, it will be
suspended until the mandate has been lifted.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Kathy or
Justin in the church office.
