As promised in the sermon [click HERE to watch] this is what
I believe to be the best story of all when it comes to voluntary obedience in
action. A little over a month ago Dan B.
approached me to sell a Chevy SUV he had purchased to fix up and flip.
We talked about what he wanted for it and I said I would
give it a try. The price was pretty high and so there wasn’t much interest. A
couple weeks went by and as many of you know, Dan’s life went a little crazy.
His son, Logan was diagnosed with a brain tumor and the
family has spent enormous amounts of time in the hospital with more time to
come. And of course with that always comes financial concern so selling the SUV
became a pressing issue. We continued to lower the price and then a young man
stopped to look at it.
He was in a fairly new vehicle and so I asked him why he was
looking at this older car. He explained to me that he had just graduated from
college and was given the advice that now he was a college graduate and going
to get a great job, he should also have a nice car. And the best way to do that is to lease.
Now this is another topic we could really get into. For now,
I’ll just say for 90% of people leasing is a bad deal. And so it was for him. In
a short amount of time, he burned up all the allotted miles on the car and so
was paying by the mile for all the driving he was doing. He was desperate to
get into something else so he made an offer but it was much less then what Dan was
hoping.
So I went to Dan and asked if he could reduce his price
which he did. But there was still a $1500 gap. I then prayed about it. This was
then God reminded me that Rev Motors is not just me, the cars and the customers.
I have a church that can help with this ministry. I was inspired to approached a group of car loving
individuals and explained the situation.
Out of the generosity of their hearts several individuals
covered the gap plus $500 so Dan could be blessed and released from the SUV, while simultaneously blessing this young man and enabling him to get into a
good car he could afford.
Friends I call this a
money miracle God steps in and makes things happen that are just beautiful. Thus,
we turn hate into happiness. I can’t tell you how incredibly satisfying it is
to see these things happen before my very eyes but also to have you my dear
church involved and active and making these miracles happen. This is so
exciting, I can barely wait to see what God does next but you can be sure I will tell
you when He does :)
