It will be 35 years since I stood before the magnificent Colosseum in Rome-alone. I remember thinking this would be so much better if I had someone to share the experience with. Now I can! Through Educational Opportunities [EO], the organization I’ve taken people to the Holy Land with, offers this adventure too-and we have a group that has formed and registered to go.
How about a little
context. I miss going to the Holy Land. After 5 journeys it seems travel there
is all but impossible at the moment. I’ve had 2 trips fizzle out since the war
began. Now it feels like God is giving me a plan B.
In my daily Bible reading I’ve been in the book of Acts and
I’m reading about Paul’s missionary travels around the Mediterranean. I also
learned the Bible quizzing text next year will be in the book of Acts. I’m
seriously thinking syncing up a sermon series with the quiz season and maybe
before the season too. Then this trip comes on my radar.

How cool would it be to learn all about the book of Acts and
then go and see some of the places in the book-on a big boat! So, this is how I
discern if a trip is doable. First, I prayerfully research the trip, costs,
itinerary, dates and the speaker/leader. I’ve done all that including having an
excellent chat with Keith Boyette-our speaker for the trip. I have no doubt he
will be a wonderful Bible guide for us on this adventure.
Now it’s up to you-I’ve got the trip link on our website-the
paper brochures are on the welcome table or available from me. At
this point I’ve got 8 people who are committed. There is still room for more.
But space on the boat is limited and this is why I’m saying if you want to go
let me know.
Be warned-these trips are not cheap. I would also say you
get what you pay for. I’ve always been
impressed with the way these trips come together with EO. Most people view
these trips as “bucket list” ventures you do once in a life time to make
memories you’ll remember a long time.
If this sparks your imagination and it seems the Lord is
opening the door for you to go, I hope you will prayerfully consider it. If you
have any questions, I’d love to talk to you about them and help you discern.
Travel as a church family has been a high light of my ministry over the years
and I hope it continues to be in the years to come!
