UPDATE: BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT JOINED US FOR PRAYER EVEN HAD TO USE THE WING SPACE FOR THE OVERFLOW! PRAISE THE LORD!
I’m so glad I’m a part of a church that embraces Jesus and His witness to loving our enemies:
Matthew 5:43-45: You have heard that it was said, ‘Love
your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray
for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
Luke 6:27-28: But to you who are listening I say: Love
your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray
for those who mistreat you.
We stand on the solid New Testament truth that killing is
wrong and hatred is the pathway to hell itself:
Matthew 5 :21-24 “You have heard that our ancestors were
told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’
But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If
you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court.
And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.
Romans 12:14, 17-19: Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse . . . Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Today I’m calling all who wish to join me for our regular Sunday morning 9:15am time of
prayer in light of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. This is a
horrible act of violence. We must pray against it and any more that could
follow. Violence often produces more violence.
I love living in our country but we are experiencing division at a level I’ve never seen before. The church now has the opportunity to shine a light of unity that could and should impact our nation. We can come together in prayer-and we need to now more than ever-HOPE TO SEE YOU AT 9:15AM TODAY!
Bonus Bible verses on Prayer and Peace to meditate on:
1 Timothy 2:1-2: I urge, then, first of all, that
petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for
kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in
all godliness and holiness.
1 Peter 3:9: Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for
reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may
obtain a blessing.
Proverbs 20:22: Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for
the Lord, and he will deliver you.
