Some hard truth...

Some hard truth...

Few things get me more excited than a full sanctuary on a Sunday morning! After the year that we've had, I love so much our people and new people are gathering again to worship God. It is a beautiful thing to behold at the same time I have been confronted with hard truth that I feel I need to share.

Someone from our church, who is in a local care facility told me that they are once again in lockdown. They had had no residents with covid since this began but now have six cases. The disturbing part is that four of the six people with the virus were vaccinated and one of those is now in the hospital.

This facility had been one of the most stringent in that it had only opened up to visitors in the last few weeks but now covid has come in. This is reality. The hard truth is that this is not the time to let our guard down. What do I mean?

I'm getting my vaccine in the next few weeks, even though I know it’s not 100% effective, I believe it helps. Though it is a constant distraction for me, I will continue to wear a mask.  Though it is inconvenient, you will see me constantly sanitizing my hands with our spray bottles every Sunday.

There is one reason I do these things-I feel convicted by the Holy Spirit to do whatever I can to fight for our community and against covid. I hope you will join me in that fight. No matter how you feel about vaccines, masks or washing hands I hope I can count on all of SMC to pray.

Prayer is our primary weapon in the fight. How do I want you to fight with prayer? Pray that our community can continue to be protected from covid. Pray that our church can continue to have unity while giving each other grace and space. Pray that we can be a wise and compassionate church that is always and ultimately faithful to Jesus. May God hear and answer our prayers!
