The uniqueness of our FM radio outreach hit me the other day as I
was reading this text from Matthew 9. Jesus is being questioned why he is
hanging around sinners. He responds:
“12 Those who are well have no need of a physician, but
those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and
not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to
repentance.” NKJV
I love the fact that we are on Country 104.5 WQKT, a secular station. I don’t
know any other Gospel preachers that are on a secular station in our area. This
is a unique opportunity that I have no idea how long will last. But I’m
thankful for your support in this seed sowing venture.
And while your financial support is needed your prayer
support is needed more! Please pick one (or all these concerns) and lift them
to the Lord…
- Pray that we can reach the 114,000 regular listeners WQKT
has and that they won’t snap their radios off or roll the dial over to the
station next door where the country music continues. Our songs from Psalms is
what they need more-pray they know it! This outreach is solidly in the secular world, that Jesus went to, and now sends us to as well.
- Pray that we can be their church if they have none and if
there is a need for Bibles, prayer concerns or whatever, our listeners will let
me know.
-Pray that WQKT leadership (who previously said “no
religious programming on FM) would be blessed by our presence on the station
and that they would see it as worthy.
-Pray that God would help me adapt (or create new) messages
that touch people’s lives who are out there. A radio congregation is different
than a sanctuary congregation.
-Pray that listeners will ask for our free DVD resource “The
Chosen” that we are giving out. Never have I seen a more vivid and compelling
telling of the Gospel. But it needs to get out there! I would invite you to
give out this resource as well-let me know how many you need and I’ll see you
get them.
-Pray that if God wants this program to have a name it
would. Currently it’s referred to as “the Smithville Mennonite Church program”
which is fine but probably not as catchy as it could be. What do you think of:
Ears to Hear (my favorite-highlights Jesus’ own words)
Before the Rooster crows (mostly since we are on so early
and is Biblical)
The Table (this is what I call my podcast where all our
messages are on line)
Maybe you have a better idea? Let me know if you do! Thanks
again for going on this little adventure with me-let’s see where God takes us
next. :)
Amen, T.D. Martin 012121
